Job description

Founded by the Channell family in 1922, Channell is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV, among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connections, management systems, and high-performance below-grade vaults.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Assembler is responsible for assembling assigned product parts by production guidelines. Performs tasks according to specifications using hand tools, power tools, and production machines. Maintains good housekeeping practices and ensures that company policies and safety rules are followed by any task assigned. Responsibilities also include any other assignments provided by the immediate Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure on-time clocking and reporting to the workstation.
  • Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules,
  • includes PPE and uniform compliance.
  • Assemble assigned product parts by established standards and production guidelines.
  • Read and understand all work orders ensuring that all tools and materials are on hand.
  • Read and understand how to utilize a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
  • Ensure production quotas are met in a timely fashion while observing the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Perform tasks according to specifications using hand tools, power tools, and production machines.
  • Bolt, screw, clip, or otherwise fasten together parts to form subassemblies while maintaining good housekeeping and 5s standards.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed correctly.
  • Increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Complete other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Good mechanical skills, use of hand/power tools.
  • Good understanding of quality and safety practices

ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Read and understand written assembly instructions.
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • ISO sections about the position.

EQUIPMENT USED:
  • Small hand tools, such as pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, razor knives, wrenches, tape guns, etc.
  • Small power tools, such as drills, ratchets, rivet guns, heat guns, pneumatic staplers, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Submit to a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Pass work physical and lift test.
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Must be able to speak, read/comprehend and write in English.
  • Ability to lift to 30 / 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to work overtime as needed.
