Job description

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for Fire Prevention Officer (Public Education Specialist) in the Fire Department. The incumbent will be under the general direction of the Fire Marshal and will perform the following core functions: fire and life safety inspections, fire investigations, public safety education, and other assignments within The Fire Prevention Bureau. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, valid Oklahoma driver's license and be insurable. Any applicant attaining the position of Fire Prevention Officer must be certified as an IFSAC or Pro Board Inspector I and successfully complete a credentialed fire investigation training within one (1) year of attaining this position, as approved by the Fire Chief. Any applicant attaining the position of Fire Prevention Officer must successfully complete a fire inspection and investigation training within one year of attaining this position as approved by the Fire Chief. The following State of Oklahoma and/or National Certifications are preferred: Bachelor's degree in education, fire prevention, or management, Fire Inspector I and II, IFSAC or Pro Board Officer I, Fire and Life Safety Educator, Instructor I and II.
