Board Director of Development & Fundraising

Womanity Portrait Foundation provides portrait photography, storytelling, wellness retreats, exhibitions, and healing-centered arts programs for women impacted by breast cancer. Sustainable funding will allow the organization to reach more women, improve its programs, offer financial assistance when possible, compensate qualified facilitators, and build stronger long-term support for its work. The Board Director of Development & Fundraising will help Womanity move from relying on limited, project-by-project resources toward a more stable and thoughtful fundraising structure. This person will have a meaningful role in building relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, businesses, and community partners who believe in the organization’s mission.

Participate in board meetings, planning, and organizational decisions

Advise the board on donor engagement, sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, and revenue planning

Genuine interest in Womanity’s mission and the women it serves

Desired Skills/Experience

Experience with nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grant research, grant writing, donor stewardship, fundraising events, sales, business development, CRM systems, philanthropy, healthcare, women-centered organizations, breast cancer support, photography, or the arts is helpful but not required.

Existing relationships within the San Diego business, philanthropic, healthcare, arts, or nonprofit communities would be valuable. However, the strongest candidate does not need to arrive carrying a suitcase full of wealthy friends. They do need to be willing to build relationships and open doors.

Time Commitment

Approximately 3-4 hours per week, including one board meeting per month, with a minimum commitment of one year. The schedule is flexible, and much of the work can be completed remotely. Occasional attendance at donor meetings, community events, exhibitions, or programs in San Diego County is encouraged.
