Job description

Position Summary

Allied Health Programs Coordinator is responsible for coordination and promotion of BMCC’s Medical Assisting certification program, Allied Health Partnerships with other institutions, and identifying opportunities for Dual Credit and Workforce Training in Healthcare-related fields. Assists students with Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) placement in healthcare related fields, periodically reviews and assesses BMCC curriculum to ensure the academic offerings are in compliance with institutional and regional accreditation standards. Acts as the lead for BMCC’s Allied Health Advisory Board and serves as the liaison between the Office of Instruction and any relevant accrediting agencies. Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan.

Essential Functions

  • Is responsible for curriculum programming and assessment, student advising, promotion of the Allied Health Programs, and building relationships with educational and industry partners. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitates the coordination of BMCC Allied Health programs with partner institutions.
  • Assists with recruiting for all Allied Health Programs.
  • Coordinates the student application process for limited entry programs.
  • Works with the Director, College Relations, to ensure programmatic information is up to date in marketing materials and on the BMCC website.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of program student handbooks, curriculum guides and advisement materials.
  • Work with faculty and staff to review and assess BMCC’s Allied Health programs and provides recommendations to the Office of Instruction and Curriculum Committee for program improvement.
  • Assists faculty with keeping pathway and catalogue information for EMS/FS, Nursing, Pre-nursing, and Allied Health pathways current.
  • Proactively works with students in the departments to facilitate advising in BMCC programs and coordination with external partnerships.
  • Identifies qualified instructors.
  • Maintains any necessary student records assuring that they meet all state and regional requirements.
  • Attend BMCC Allied Health Advisory Committee meetings, required.
  • Serves as the lead for Medical Assisting Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Works to maintain any required Accreditation standards.
  • Recommends schedule of course offerings based on student needs and available resources.
  • Assists the Office of Instruction and department chairs in monitoring the Nursing, EMS/FS, and Medical Assisting department budgets throughout the year. Creates monthly departmental budget summary reports.
  • Prepare Student Clinical Training Agreements and monitor agreement expiration dates, facilities’ accreditation or licensing body, date of last and next accreditation/licensing renewal.
  • Identifies equipment and facility upgrades needs and works with BMCC’s Office of instruction to identify outside sources of funding.
  • Manages any grants awarded to support Allied Health programs.
  • Represents BMCC at state level meetings with approval from Office of Instruction.

Other Aspects of this Position

  • Travel to state/nation-wide conferences and throughout Northeastern Oregon as needed, valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have basic knowledge of financial budgeting.
  • Requires a high level of effectiveness in meetings and working with a variety of personalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and persuasive skills are necessary.
  • Must be self-motivated and well organized.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability-related issues.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or AAS in an Allied Health Related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Health Care Related field.
  • Experience in working with the Health Care Industry.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with budget preparation and oversight.
  • Ability to identify and apply for grants to support the programs.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a Health Care Related field.

Exempt Tech:

This is a full year, 235 day position with excellent benefits including: Medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and long term disability insurance; Paid holidays; Sick leave; Vacation; and Tuition waiver for employee and qualified dependents.

Pay: $55,000 - $58,500
