Job description

Blue Planet Implementation Lead Consultant
(Network Automation & OSS Integration)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Blue Planet Implementation Lead Consultant to lead the design, integration, and operationalization of Ciena Blue Planet solutions within large-scale service provider environments. This role serves as the technical and delivery lead, accountable for guiding implementation teams, engaging senior stakeholders, and ensuring successful realization of intent-based networking, service orchestration, and automation initiatives across IP, fiber, and transport domains.
The Lead Consultant acts as the primary technical authority and client-facing advisor, aligning automation outcomes to a Tier-1 Telecommunications company's OSS, NOC, and operational processes, while driving solutions from architecture and design through production rollout and operational handover.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end delivery of Blue Planet implementations as the technical authority
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across network, OSS, automation, test, and operations
• Own architecture decisions, delivery plans, dependencies, and risk management
• Review and approve designs, configurations, service models, and integrations
• Deploy and configure Blue Planet components (orchestration, inventory, and related modules)
• Model services, resources, intents, and policies aligned to the product catalog and network domains
• Integrate Blue Planet with OSS/assurance/inventory/telemetry platforms and ServiceNow via APIs (REST/TMF)
• Implement policy-driven, closed-loop automation with guardrails and approvals
• Enable Tier 1-2 automation use cases (detect, correlate, recommend, remediate) with human-in-the-loop controls
• Lead SIT/UAT and support phased production rollout
• Drive operational readiness (NOC onboarding, runbooks, documentation, escalations) and transition to steady state
• Serve as the client-facing technical lead for engineering, operations, and automation stakeholders
• Translate business objectives into an implementation and automation roadmap; report status, risks, and decisions
Required Skills and Experience
• 7+ years of experience in network automation, OSS integration, or service orchestration within service provider environments
• Demonstrated experience leading implementation teams for complex OSS and network automation programs
• Hands-on experience implementing Ciena Blue Planet solutions (MDSO, orchestration, inventory, and/or assurance workflows)
• Strong understanding of IP/MPLS, Ethernet, metro, and long-haul optical networks
• Experience integrating OSS platforms using REST APIs, TMF Open APIs, event streams, and telemetry feeds
• Deep knowledge of service modeling, inventory abstraction, and intent-based automation frameworks
• Proven experience supporting large-scale production environments, including SIT, UAT, and operational rollout
• Strong troubleshooting skills across automation, orchestration, OSS, and network layers
• Proven ability to lead complex client engagements, balancing technical depth with business and operational outcomes
• Strong consultative mindset, able to influence senior technical and operational stakeholders
• Experience defining implementation strategies, phased delivery plans, and adoption roadmaps
• Ability to assess organizational maturity, identify capability gaps, and recommend pragmatic OSS and automation improvements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and technical documentation
• Experience mentoring engineers and consultants while enforcing delivery quality and architectural standards
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, evolving environments, providing clarity, direction, and decision support
Nice to Have
• Experience working in large Tier-1 Telecommunications or cable/MSO environments
• Familiarity with telemetry-driven assurance, streaming analytics, and closed-loop automation
• Experience integrating with ServiceNow for workflow, incident, and change automation
• Exposure to NOC operations, automation governance, and operational transformation initiatives
• Experience enabling or advising on transitions toward intent-based and autonomous network operations
