Description & Requirements
Bloomberg News is seeking an exceptional and versatile journalist to lead our Chicago bureau, driving coverage from one of the world's most important business and financial capitals.
The region is home to diverse corporate giants from McDonald's to United Airlines and CME Group, as well as some of the largest and most opaque financial businesses. It's a hub of commerce, from agriculture to manufacturing to quantum computing, and at the heart of political currents that are shaping the US.
We're looking for a leader who can help Bloomberg own the stories that emerge from Chicago and the broader region and connect them to the forces driving the country as part of Bloomberg's National Team.
The successful candidate will oversee stories touching on the biggest themes in business, politics, finance and the economy, driving breaking news and scoops, and leading enterprise reporting for audiences around the world.
This is a role for an editor with strong news judgment, a competitive instinct and a passion for developing journalists.
We'll trust you to:
  • Lead Bloomberg's Chicago bureau and set coverage priorities across the region
  • Drive ambitious reporting on the companies, industries, policymakers and economic trends shaping Chicago and the Midwest
  • Deliver exclusive and agenda-setting journalism across business, politics and the economy
  • Collaborate closely with Bloomberg teams around the US and the world
  • Mentor and develop reporters
  • Build relationships with key newsmakers and sources throughout the region

You'll need to have:
  • Significant experience leading journalists and newsroom teams
  • Exceptional news judgment and editing skills
  • A proven record of delivering exclusive and impactful journalism
  • Deep interest in business, politics and economic policy
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom

Salary Range = 150,000 - 205,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
