About the role:

Avery Dennison's Co-Op Program has a single business focus to cultivate future talent for our rapidly growing organization. With a concentrated blend of experiential on-the-job learning, a dynamic environment, access to business leaders, and a supportive team of co-workers, peers, and supervisors, the Internship Program will provide you the opportunity to sharpen your skills and collaborate on a number of strategic projects. We're seeking an RFID Applications Engineer Co-Op to join our business in North America during the spring. You will be responsible for providing support for product engineers working on the development of RFID tags, printer systems, and RFID reader systems operating in the HF and UHF bands. You are expected to work in support of product development engineers. The work environment will be primarily an office or application lab. You will use various automated RFID test systems and RFID printer and reader systems. Work activities require an understanding of engineering disciplines and scientific processes sufficient to support testing, data collection, data organization, and reporting. Our co-op program serves as a talent pipeline for our Early Careers Program throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with engineers and influencing product development and customer use case decisions

  • Obtaining deep knowledge of RFID technology which can be a critical link for enabling the Internet of Things, Blockchain and Omni-Channel fulfillment

  • Working as part of a technical team environment, with professionals trained on testing methods, critical thinking, data analysis and reporting in spreadsheets, and generating technical and customer-facing reports

  • Providing support for product engineers working on the development of RFID tags, printer systems, and RFID reader systems operating in the HF and UHF bands

  • Utilizing automated RFID test systems and RFID printer and reader systems to support testing, data collection, data organization, and reporting

What you will need to bring to the program:

Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or other Engineering discipline. 

Preferred Experience 

  • General familiarity with electronic systems and introductory programming background is preferred 

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel or Google Equivalent

  • Previous co-op experience 

  • Experience via student organizations, such as Engineers without Borders, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, etc. 

  • Volunteerism or similar activities

Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

  • Sponsorship is not available now or in the future

  • Must be willing to join during at least two semesters, including one non-summer term

Travel

  • Ability to travel 10 - 20 percent of the time

The hourly salary for this position is $25.50 - $29.00/hour based off where you are at academically.
