Position Overview
The general role of the Project Manager - Telecom Installation & Commissioning is to supervise and direct the installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications network infrastructure across operational and industrial environments, including outside plant (OSP), inside plant (ISP), and network equipment deployments. This individual manages project tasks, personnel, and requirements in a dedicated, organized, and efficient manner, ensuring work is performed safely within active operational networks, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure sites. The position must be detail oriented and performance driven to ensure that all project elements are synchronized and successfully completed. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget by designating project resources, monitoring progress, coordinating network commissioning and cutover activities, and maintaining open communication between customers and management.
This individual understands each product and supports the improvement of operational efficiency. This position will require a flexible schedule to include extended hours, nights, weekends, and travel with overnight stays as needed.
The Project Manager reports to the Department Manager and works primarily out of their assigned location.
What You'll Do
  • Determine and define project scope, objectives, and plan and direct resources to ensure successful completion
  • Review network and installation designs
  • Carry out daily operational tasks in an effective and timely manner
  • Facilitate communications between office and field personnel
  • Problem-solve issues and ensure continuous improvement
  • Organize, file, and maintain all current project documents
  • Enter information and manage the digital project databases
  • Ensure compliance to customer network specifications, industry standards, and commissioning/acceptance test requirements
  • Coordinate and execute daily administrative tasks to include the processing of timecards, vehicle and equipment assignments, work in progress reports (WIPs), invoices, etc.
  • Schedule and confirm deliveries to field staff
  • Ensure project adheres to a set schedule and meets the goals of the client
  • Schedule meetings, phone calls, site visits, etc.
  • Consult with and gather information from technicians, engineers, contractors, etc. to ensure an effective flow of information
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Coordinate installation, splicing, testing, and commissioning systems

What You'll Bring
  • 3+ years of project management experience in telecommunications network installation, commissioning, or industrial construction environments preferred

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Visio
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure
  • Working knowledge of telecom network commissioning and test procedures and associated test equipment (e.g., OTDR, power meters, cable/network testers)
  • Comfortable working in operational telecom networks and industrial environments, with an understanding of related safety practices (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space, arc flash, PPE requirements)
