Job description

Job Overview:

The Bistro Attendant at Courtyard by Marriott Biloxi/D'Iberville is responsible for providing excellent service in the bistro, including greeting and seating guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a positive dining experience for guests and supporting the efficient operation of the bistro.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service:

  • Greet guests warmly as they enter the bistro and provide a positive dining experience.
  • Assist with seating guests, presenting menus, and explaining specials or menu items.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and promptly, ensuring special requests or dietary restrictions are noted and communicated to the kitchen.

Food & Beverage Service:

  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure that all orders are prepared and presented according to bistro standards.
  • Check in with guests to ensure their satisfaction and address any issues or additional needs promptly.

Bistro Maintenance:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bistro area, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
  • Clear and clean tables between guests and reset them for new guests.
  • Refill condiments, beverages, and other supplies as needed.

Order Processing:

  • Process payments accurately, handling cash, credit cards, and vouchers in accordance with bistro procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver checks to guests and handle any necessary transactions or adjustments.

Coordination & Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with other bistro staff and supervisors to ensure smooth service and address any operational issues.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling and cleanliness standards.
  • Follow bistro policies and procedures to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with basic administrative tasks, such as setting up and closing the bistro, and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Report any maintenance issues or supply shortages to the Bistro Supervisor or Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; additional training in hospitality or food service is a plus.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in food and beverage service, preferably in a bistro or casual dining setting.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role with a focus on service excellence.

Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide a welcoming and positive experience for guests.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Ability to multitask and handle a high-volume environment efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, including proper handling and presentation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, including trays, dishes, and other service items.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including bending, reaching, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor bistro environment with exposure to varying conditions depending on service and operational needs.
  • Collaborative atmosphere with interactions with guests, staff, and management.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring effective multitasking and attention to detail.
