What Youโ€™ll Do
As a Per Diem Birth Tissue Technician,ย  you will directly contribute to LifeLinkโ€™s life-saving mission.ย ย Responsible for performing activities related to living donor birth tissue acquisition following established LifeLink policies and procedures. Performs birth tissue donor pre-qualification processes and is responsible for acquiring birth tissue, using aseptic technique, in an operating room environment

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs tasks related to birth tissue acquisition overseen and/or regulated by the AATB, FDA, and applicable state and federal agencies.
  • Performs birth tissue donor pre-qualification processes, including obtaining consent for birth tissue and completing the medical social history interview with donors.
  • Responsible for acquiring birth tissue in a hospital operating room environment using aseptic technique, along with packaging and transporting tissue.
  • Assists in the preparation of sterile work areas, in addition to inspecting and monitoring supplies/materials needed for birth tissue acquisition.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with hospital personnel and patients.
  • Responsible for completing acquisition documentation and adhering to established policies and procedures to facilitate birth tissue acquisition.
  • Performs any additional duties or functions deemed necessary by leadership.

  • High School Diploma required with Surgical Technology Certification or comparable medical related certification/experience.
  • Ability to respond and arrive to designated locations within required timeframes, wearing the appropriate attire, on scheduled work dates.
  • Work requires the ability to stand for ninety percent of the time.
  • Demonstrated above average interpersonal and communication skills with co-workers, management, hospital personnel and patients.
  • Reliable vehicle with good driving record and current state license.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
  • A collaborator who thrives in a mission-first environment.
Working Conditions:

Work requires extended hours during peak periods and in the performance of tissue recovery activities. Requires daily travel within assigned service area to include hospitals and LifeLink. Birth tissue procedures are performed in a hospital operating room setting. Hazardous conditions include, but are not limited to, the possible exposure to microorganisms, viruses, potentially infectious body fluids and hazardous chemicals. Demonstrated physical ability to lift, carry and/or move equipment of varying weight from 1 to 30 pounds.
