Bomberger's Store - Immediate Full-Time or Part-Time Hardware Sales Associate Needed - Birding Interest & Knowledge Required!

Bomberger's Store, a beloved family-owned home improvement retailer in Lititz, is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Hardware Sales Associate to join our team. In this role, you will assist customers with a wide range of hardware needs, including tools, fasteners, plumbing, electrical, paint, seasonal products, and general home improvement projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting customer questions, recommending products, and delivering hands-on, solution-oriented service.


In addition to strong general hardware knowledge, this position requires an interest in birding and familiarity with bird seed, feeders, houses, and backyard bird care products. You will help customers select the right products for attracting and caring for local bird populations while sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge in this specialty area.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides extraordinary service to customers in the division. Actively listens and asks questions to evaluate customer's needs and finds the products or solutions to complete their entire project. 
  • Actively seeks out customers by circulating the entire division  
  • Keeps department organized, fronted, clean and appealing to customers. 
  • Identifies trends and requests from customers for new merchandise that can be added to the department and inform supervisor of such 
  • Inform supervisor of inventory discrepancies 
  • Works with other associates as a team to ensure coverage in all areas of the division. 
  • Answers calls for help in a shared and timely manner 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the entire division and works with other associates to ensure coverage in all areas.  
  • Answers phone for the division. 
  • Special orders items not in stock for customers and enters special orders in the computer system. 
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.  Retail critical employees are expected to arrive to work five to ten minutes prior to their scheduled start time do be ready to assist customers the moment the doors open. 
  • Gives input to supervisor regarding proper order points for merchandise 
  • Fills propane tanks for customers upon request. 
  • Sharpens knives with automatic machine 
  • Assists loading items and/or bulk goods for customers 
  • Can run cash register when needed 
  • Uses a key cutting machine to make duplicate keys for customers upon request. 
  • Assists supervisor with merchandising areas when needed 


Requirements:

  • Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions. 
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Point of Sale Systems, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible shifts (this position will be a combination of daytime, evening and Saturday shifts).
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Would consider both full and part time applicants.
  • To be highly self motivated and be able to excel in a very fast paced environment.
