The Senior Manager, Commercial Market Research will join a collaborative, innovative MR & CI team to design, execute, and deliver strategic insights from qualitative and quantitative primary market research.ย  This role will provide actionable information and insights to reduce decision risk and support the advancement of important medications in CNS at Alkermes, as well as support launch preparations for new commercial product(s).

This Senior Manager will partner closely with all commercial functions (Marketing, Health Systems, Analytics, Forecasting, & Sales) as well as New Product Planning, Business Development & Licensing, Public Affairs, Medical, Regulatory, and Legal to increase Alkermes understanding of customer behaviors (e.g., treatment providers, patients and caregivers, pharmacists, payers) and identify/define growth opportunities.

Basic Qualifications/Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, science or quantitative disciplines such as mathematics or statistics.ย ย 

  • Minimum of 7 years in pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in market research and/or analytics.

  • Proven success leading all aspects of market research for pharmaceutical products at differentย lifecycle stages (late-stage clinical, pre-launch/launch, and inline).

  • CNS knowledge and experience preferred, especially for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, addiction, or narcolepsy/sleep medicine.

Knowledge / Skills Needed

  • Understanding of behavioral science and market research methodologies; knowledge of emerging techniques preferred (e.g. observation & measurement of non-conscious drivers of behavior, application of AI tools).

  • Strong analytical, secondary research, organization and planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including exceptional ability to translate market research results into actionable insights through dynamic presentations.

  • Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical industry. Understanding of pharmaceutical marketing and health systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical sales/marketing databases and secondary data resources.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Copilot.

Preferred Qualifications/Personal Attributes Needed

  • Ability to proactively work with commercial stakeholders, take full ownership of market research projects, and meticulously manage market research vendors.

  • Ability to coordinate and influence the efforts of cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to make frank, well-supported recommendationsย to internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to see the big picture from disparate information and present complex data in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to address complex business questions.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $135,000 to $160,000. Responsibilities

  • Leverage behavioral science framework to identify and define knowledge gaps that can be addressed via primary and secondary research.

  • Work closely with analytical partners, leveraging secondary data & analysis and secondary research to determine if primary research is warranted and- when it is- enrich primary research approach and ensure results complement existing data analyses and competitive intelligence.

  • Design and execute primary market research projects, including defining business question(s), developing research approach, managing vendors, analyzing the data, and communicating results, interpretation, and recommendations to a variety of cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Integrate data sources from a wide variety of studies and secondary resources, analyze data, and communicate insights and recommendations.

  • Quickly become an expert in assigned therapy area(s), related commercial products, and any potential new markets to ensure accurate data interpretation and become a trusted strategic partner to key commercial stakeholders.

  • Provide ongoing, strategic consulting to stakeholders to maximize insight leverage and business impact.

  • Develop and manage market research budgets for assigned products.
