Job description

Location: Onsite - Boston (Seaport), MA - Remote work is not offered with this role.

Rare disease biopharma at Alexion, a division of AstraZeneca, is at the forefront of biomedical science. Remaining transparent, objective and ethical, we push the boundaries of science, translating complex biology into transformative medicines. Uniquely positioned - with resources and global reach - we also have potent capabilities that are shaping the future of Rare disease into new areas of great unmet need to help people fully live their best lives.

This is what you will do:

The Director, Strategic Pricing Management will shape US pricing strategies for pipeline and in-line products across Alexion's rare disease portfolio. Based in Boston Seaport, you will report to the Executive Director, US Strategic Contracting & Pricing and serve as a senior advisor on pricing decisions that balance patient access, payer value, sustainable revenue, and long-term business performance.

In this role, you will partner with global and US teams to support new launches, address complex pricing challenges, and bring clear, evidence-based recommendations to senior leaders.

Why this role matters:

Alexion's robust rare disease pipeline, global reach, and evolving launch priorities create a meaningful opportunity to shape pricing strategy at a critical time. The US pricing environment is also changing quickly, with Most-Favored-Nation policy activity and broader pricing reforms increasing pressure on launch assumptions, payer value, access strategy, and long-term revenue planning. This leader will help translate that external complexity into practical, evidence-based pricing recommendations for the future.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing US list pricing strategies for pipeline assets and price evolution strategies for in-line products.
  • Assessing pricing impacts on patient access, gross-to-net, ASP, government pricing, and net revenue.
  • Partnering with Global Market Access, HEOR, Contracting, Finance, Commercial, and Marketing teams to support launch and in-line pricing decisions.
  • Evaluating value-based agreement opportunities and other innovative pricing approaches.
  • Creating clear recommendations for senior leaders and influencing decisions across cross-functional and global forums.

You will need to have at minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in life sciences, business, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in biopharma pricing, market access, strategic contracting, commercial strategy, HEOR, consulting, or a related area.
  • US pricing strategy experience, including launch, indication expansion, portfolio, or in-line pricing work.
  • Strong understanding of the US payer, provider, reimbursement, and drug pricing landscape.
  • Experience communicating complex analysis and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, influencing, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, scenario analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% overnight.

We would prefer you to have:

  • Advanced degree, such as a master's, MBA, PhD, JD, or PharmD.
  • 10+ years of relevant biopharma experience, including product launch experience.
  • Experience pricing rare disease or specialty therapies with complex reimbursement dynamics.
  • Advanced pricing or revenue analytics experience, including GTN forecasting, price-volume analysis, government pricing assessments, or value-based agreement modeling.
  • Practical experience using AI-enabled tools to improve pricing research, scenario planning, workflow efficiency, insight generation, or decision support.
  • Executive presence and the ability to build alignment, challenge assumptions constructively, and influence senior and global stakeholders.
