Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Biosolids Discipline Lead to join our growing Resilience Water team. Reporting to the Wastewater Planning Practice Lead, this full-time, U.S.-based role offers the opportunity to lead innovative biosolids strategies, strengthen market positioning, and drive sustainable growth nationwide.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Wastewater Planning and Design and Engineering Practices to develop strategic initiatives, drive business development, and oversee the successful delivery of complex biosolids and bioenergy projects. This position provides the opportunity to position Arcadis as a market leader in biosolids, advancing innovation, client success, and sustainable solutions that make a lasting impact on communities and the environment.

Role Accountabilities:

As the Biosolids Discipline Lead, you will apply your technical expertise in the areas of wastewater biosolids and bioenergy and partner with cross-functional teams to support growth, promote thought leadership, ensure excellence in project delivery, and foster staff development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Grow the Business & Market Presence: Cultivate client and stakeholder relationships to position Arcadis as a trusted advisor in biosolids solutions. Identify new market opportunities, lead strategic pursuits, and develop winning proposals to secure high-value projects aligned with Arcadis' vision.
  • Deliver Excellence in Projects: Oversee planning, design, construction, and commissioning of biosolids and bioenergy projects nationwide, ensuring technical quality, sustainability, and client satisfaction. Establish best practices and quality standards and serve as a technical director, technical advisor, or quality assurance lead on biosolids and bioenergy projects.
  • Lead, Mentor & Develop Talent: Build and nurture high-performing teams of technical and regional leaders. Foster professional growth through mentoring, sponsor communities of practice, and implement succession and hiring strategies to develop future industry leaders.
  • Drive Innovation & Thought Leadership: Lead thought leadership initiatives by staying ahead of regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and market trends. Promote research, pilot programs, and industry engagement through conferences, committees, and publications to advance Arcadis' expertise and brand.
  • Collaborate & Engage Across the Organization: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to integrate biosolids solutions into broader Arcadis U.S. Water practices. Engage with clients, project teams, and industry events nationwide (up to 30% travel) to strengthen prepositioning and partnerships, support regional leadership, and ensure coordinated, high-quality delivery.

Success in this role will be measured by sustained, profitable growth; expansion into new geographies and technologies; delivery of exceptional client experiences; and fostering coordination, career growth, and operational excellence for our team.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • 15 years of wastewater industry experience, with deep knowledge of biosolids treatment technologies, disposal methods, and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Proven business development experience, including building strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Established as a thought leader in the biosolids and bioenergy sector, with experience in national or regional biosolids associations or related organizations.

Arcadis offers benefits for full-time and part-time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP,  401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, and tuition reimbursement.  We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days of PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $113,933 - $222,739. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
