Job description

Position Summary:

The Biomedical Engineer I will assist in all aspects of design, development, testing, manufacturing, and support of a medical imaging device for the company’s operations within the US. This will include requirements development, component design, documentation, component, and system level test and debugging, and preventative maintenance. Candidate must be based in and willing to travel throughout the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform off-site maintenance and calibrations to support customer and clinical study devices.
  • Resolve product issues through detailed analysis and utilization of engineering expertise
  • Effectively communicate with customers to understand complex problems and adequately troubleshoot issues.
  • Serve as a key member of a cross-functional project team (internal and external) consisting of Optical-Imaging, electrical, mechanical and software engineers to achieve project deliverables.
  • Work closely with quality engineers to ensure compliance with Spectral MD quality procedures and follow good documentation practices.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting system hazards, failure modes, and risk mitigations.
  • Assist in the design and conduct system level and component level engineering verification and validation testing.
  • Work with subsystem teams, domain subject matter experts, and suppliers in the assessment, selection, integration, and qualification of key components.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, project plans and estimates.
  • Assist in planning and allocating team resources.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required education and experience:

  • B.S. in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
  • 1-3 years medical devices and medical device development.
  • 1-3 years engineering calibration and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience in computer programming, python preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be highly motivated and detail-oriented and be able to successfully manage independent tasks
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and perform analytical troubleshooting under challenging conditions in a clinical environment.
  • Proficiency working with test equipment, including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Demonstrated expertise with computers, electro-mechanical hardware preferred.
  • Professional, confident interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively communicate status to management.
