Summary This position is responsible for performing planned maintenance, inspections, calibrations, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations on a wide range of clinical biomedical equipment and diagnostic imaging systems. The role ensures mechanical, electrical, and radiation safety, functionality, and compliance with manufacturer specifications, hospital standards, and regulatory requirements. The technician supports clinical staff in a hospital environment and demonstrates familiarity with both general patient care devices and advanced imaging modalities.
What you will do:
Equipment Service & Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform calibrations on general biomedical equipment (e.g., infusion pumps, patient monitors, defibrillators, respiratory equipment, beds, EKG machines, anesthesia machines, operating room equipment) and diagnostic imaging systems various imaging modalities (e.g., X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy) at the block circuit and component levels
  • Conduct general troubleshooting independently and under supervision, including installations, incoming inspections, performance assurance, and planned maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and service management guidelines
  • Interpret signal flow using blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic software; utilize strong system-level troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of clinical applications, image quality standards, and underlying principles of medical imaging equipment as well as general patient care devices
  • Manage OEM-mandated updates, upgrades, and field modifications; accurately document all work in RENOVO's CMMS (RenovoLive)
  • Properly use test equipment and tools including multimeters, dosimeters, oscilloscopes, service software/keys, invasive & non-invasive imaging test devices, phantoms, AC line analyzers, hand/power tools
  • Assist with or perform major repairs on complex equipment in collaboration with senior technicians

Compliance, Documentation & Safety
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory bodies (TJC, DNV, CAP, DOH) and internal Medical Equipment Management Plans (MEMP)
  • Follow all OSHA and facility safety guidelines related to bloodborne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments/tools, hazardous liquids/materials, and device operation
  • Adhere to ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 13485 QMS policies, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Complete safety training assignments on time and maintain a safe working environment for self and others

Customer Support & Communication
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clinical leadership, facility staff, and teammates
  • Provide clear, timely updates on equipment status, service action plans, progress, and timelines
  • Demonstrate a "customer-first" mentality by actively listening to feedback, prioritizing requests, and enhancing customer satisfaction
  • Communicate equipment status and service information professionally in both verbal and written forms

Additional Responsibilities
  • Support inventory control through audits, asset tracking, and updates to performance assurance schedules
  • Participate in special projects, upgrades, shift scheduling, and reasonable travel as required
  • Perform after-hours and emergency service calls (including weekends) when needed
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or equivalent preferred; equivalent military or field experience considered
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience servicing and maintaining medical equipment in a hospital or clinical setting (experience with both general biomedical and imaging equipment strongly preferred)
  • Successful completion of Basic Level I and Level II Imaging Equipment Service Training through an accredited Independent Training Organization, OEM, or equivalent military program preferred
  • Proficient with electromechanical devices, computerized biomedical systems, diagnostic imaging equipment, error code interpretation, and service software
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and priority-setting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
