Work Your Magic with us!Start your next chapter and join MilliporeSigma.

Ready to explore, break barriers, and discover more? We know you've got big plans - so do we! Our colleagues across the globe love innovating with science and technology to enrich people's lives with our solutions in Healthcare, Life Science, and Electronics. Together, we dream big and are passionate about caring for our rich mix of people, customers, patients, and planet. That's why we are always looking for curious minds that see themselves imagining the unimaginable with us.

This role does not offer sponsorship for work authorization. External applicants must be eligible to work in the US.

Your Role:

We are excited to announce an opening for a Bioprocess Applications Engineer 2 within the Single Use and Integrated Systems Product Development team, part of MilliporeSigma's Process Solutions business unit. Based at our Bedford, MA campus, this role will support the development and application of integrated platform solutions for next-generation bioprocessing.

In this role, you will apply strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on experimentation, data analysis, and customer-focused problem solving to evaluate new technologies, understand system performance, and translate application insights into product requirements, technical guidance, and customer-relevant solutions. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys applying technical depth to practical bioprocessing challenges and helping deliver more efficient, flexible, and robust biomanufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute applications studies to evaluate single-use systems and consumables under customer-relevant bioprocessing conditions and process workflows.
  • Apply core engineering principles, such as fluid dynamics, transport phenomena, thermodynamics, and scale-up/scale-down concepts, to understand system performance and guide product development.
  • Develop test methods and scale-down models to assess system performance, operating windows, and process robustness.
  • Use experimental data, statistical analysis, coding tools, and/or simulation approaches, including CFD where appropriate, to generate application insights, support technical decisions, and build predictive understanding.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Product Management, Commercial, Operations, and Quality to advance product concepts through development, verification, validation, and commercialization.
  • Represent the bioprocessing end-user perspective by understanding customer workflows, performance needs, technology gaps, and usability requirements.
  • Translate application learnings into product requirements, technical recommendations, customer-facing materials, and practical guidance that support product adoption and successful use in bioprocessing workflows.
  • Provide technical support for customer trials, investigations, and new use cases by communicating technical findings, demonstrating product capabilities, resolving technical inquiries, and capturing actionable feedback to inform future product and application development.
