Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Bindery Folder/Cutter Operator to join our team! The Bindery Folder/Cutter Operator performs manual and machine tasks related to the setup, maintenance, and operation of flatbed cutters and MBO folding machines in our printing manufacturing facility to produce high-quality printed and folded materials according to job specifications and production schedules.
Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate MBO folding machines and flatbed cutters; including set up and adjustments for feeder, folding, cutting, and delivery.
  • Configure folder for special processes (e.g., perforating, scoring, slitting/trimming) and for various folding configurations (e.g., parallel, gate, accordion).
  • Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and specifications to ensure accurate folding and cutting.
  • Verify accuracy of folds, final sizes, and crossovers on signatures; ensure no marking.
  • Perform other bindery operations such as cutting, punching, shrink-wrapping, stitching, padding, and round cornering.
  • Demonstrate a 95% success rate in troubleshooting folder machine issues and correcting process-related issues.
  • Monitor production runs for quality, consistency, and efficiency; ensuring consistent product inspection.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on folder and cutter machines and document it in the maintenance binder.
  • Complete all required documentation and data entry to support accurate machine records and inventory tracking.
  • Load paper onto folder equipment and prepare basic start up functions.
  • Follow proper safety procedures for operating bindery equipment.
  • Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's).
  • Assist with cleanup and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating MBO or similar folding equipment in a commercial print or packaging environment.
  • Experience operating a flatbed cutter preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance
  • Must be able to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, fractions, and volume.
  • Must be able to stand regularly and walk frequently.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers in continuous and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
