Opportunity to join a growing retina practice that performs all of our billing operations in house. This position is located in our Greenville office with typical working hours of 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to 12:30 pm Friday. There is also a rotating schedule of working all day on Fridays. The Billing Specialist reports directly to the Billing Manager.Job ResponsibilitiesRequest authorizations, occasionally same day, for injections, procedures and in office surgeriesCheck eligibility and run eligibility reports for assigned officesClaim follow up and denial reprocessing for Medicare and other insurancesCommunicate with payers regarding denials and coverage changesMaintain current list of authorizations for all applicable insurancesPrepare reports for monthly billing meeting with Management teamStay informed of Medicare Local Coverage Determination and National Coverage Determination as related to our servicesPost insurance and patient payments as neededManage patient financial assistance programs for medicationsServe as back up for other billing department staffExperience RequirementsFive years of medical billing experience is preferred, two years of experience is requiredMust have previously worked in high volume billing officeSkill RequirementsCritical thinkingMulti-taskingTyping ProficiencyCommunication skillsProper DocumentationOur practice offers an extensive benefit package including health insurance, short and long term disability, life insurance, 401K plan, paid holidays, educational benefits, uniform stipends, and paid time off.
