Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team. Our Billing Specialist is responsible for managing and collecting outstanding balances from insurance companies for services related to behavioral health. This role involves working closely with insurance companies and/or patients are collected in a timely manner, any payer denials/rejections are worked and followed up on to exhaustion or payment of services.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying patient insurance coverage and eligibility for treatment services to ensure coverage of claims billed.
  • Collaborating with management to ensure accurate billing and coding for services billed.
  • Coordinating with insurance companies to ensure timely payment for services rendered.
  • Maintaining accurate records of patient billing and payment information.
  • Providing reports to management on outstanding balances and collections activity
  • Utilize financial software to track payments and maintain accurate records.
  • Apply knowledge of medical billing practices, including ICD-10 coding, when applicable.
  • Provide excellent customer service while negotiating payment plans or settlements.

Experience

  • Proven experience in collections or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with medical billing processes is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate financial analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective client interaction.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple accounts efficiently.

To perform this job effectively, a Billing Specialist should have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as a strong understanding of insurance billing and coding requirements.
