Description:Infusion Billing Specialist Part Time w/ Possible Full Time Opportunity

Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Medical Biller to join our rheumatology practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the billing cycle, from charge entry to payment posting for our Infusions. This role requires a strong understanding of medical insurance, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Charge Entry:
    • Review and accurately enter charges for all patient encounters, including office visits, infusions, injections, and procedures.
    • Verify that charges align with services documented by providers.
  • Claims Submission:
    • Submit clean claims to all insurance carriers (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) in a timely manner, either electronically or on paper.
    • Manage and resolve any claim rejections or denials.
  • Payment & Adjustment Posting:
    • Post payments from insurance carriers and patients accurately into the billing system.
    • Apply contractual adjustments, write-offs, and denials according to remittance advice and EOBs.
  • Accounts Receivable Management:
    • Work aging reports to follow up on unpaid claims with insurance companies.
    • Research and resolve payment discrepancies and coding issues.
  • General Duties:
    • Collaborate with the coding, collections, and clinical teams to resolve billing issues.
    • Stay up-to-date with changes in insurance policies and government regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
    • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the practice's operations.

ADA Physical Requirements

  • Data Entry and Manipulation: Constantly operating a computer, phone system, and other office productivity machinery (e.g., printer, copier) which requires the use of hands/fingers to handle, feel, operate, and input data (typing, writing, etc.).
  • Stationary Position: The need to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods to perform computer and phone work.
  • Movement: Occasionally needing to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or other workstations.
  • Visual Acuity: The ability to observe and read computer screens, forms, charts, and small print for accurate information and assessment.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Minimal requirements, typically sedentary to light (moving or transporting items up to 10-20 pounds), such as files, supplies, or a laptop.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, with experience in a specialty clinic preferred.
