To thrive as a Billing Associate, you need strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and a foundational understanding of accounting or finance principles, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

KPMG Corporate Finance Inc. is the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC)-regulated entity through which KPMG LLP provides investment banking services in Canada. KPMG Corporate Finance services are principally comprised of merger, acquisition and divestiture services and financing services, including raising debt and equity capital. Our growing diversified investment banking team is seeking an Associate Vice President (Manager) to join our team in Calgary, Edmonton or Winnipeg to play a key role across all aspects of transaction delivery.

What you will do
  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day execution and delivery of service on a range of corporate finance projects.
  • Draft pitch books, teasers, confidential information memorandums (CIM) and other transaction process documentation.
  • Manage, mentor and train junior corporate finance professionals (Analysts & Associates).
  • Prepare and review various forms of financial analysis, including complex financial models.
  • Conduct market and industry research, detailed financial analysis and business valuations.
  • Assist in the identification of potential acquisition targets, purchasers and/or investors.
  • Undertake engagement and practice management responsibilities, including billings and adherence to professional practice requirements.
  • Lead proactive business development and deal initiation activities.

This role provides significant learning opportunities and increasing responsibility over time. At times, business needs arise, and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal workday or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, employees need time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.

What you bring to the role
  • An undergraduate degree in finance, commerce, business, accounting, economics or other related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant post-graduate experience, in Corporate Finance, or a related field e.g. transaction advisory, investment banking, private equity, or corporate development.
  • Proven track record of M&A transaction initiation/execution in a fast-paced professional setting – as exhibited by your deal credential list which should accompany your cover letter.
  • CPA, CBV or CFA designations are all considered assets.
  • Strong technical finance proficiency, including knowledge of financial statements and general accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated experience or ability in training and developing junior staff members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).

What we offer:

  • Support for candidates enrolled in professionally accredited designation programs (CPA, CBV, CFA, etc.) including paid enrollment costs, paid study / exam days, ongoing coaching and third-party courses / materials for exam preparation.
  • Meaningful roles on a variety of Corporate Finance assignments for some of Canada’s premier companies, with support and coaching from senior Corporate Finance executives that promote professional growth and development.
  • Assignment of a Performance Manager on day one to help guide and grow your career as a Corporate Finance professional.
  • Deal Advisory team events throughout the year to help build a strong team culture.
  • Modern office space in our recently renovated downtown offices in Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
