The Big Ten Conference is a group of 14 universities in the United States that compete in NCAA Division I athletics, primarily in the Midwest and Northeast regions. Founded in 1896, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious collegiate athletic conferences. The Big Ten sponsors championships in a wide range of sports for both men and women. Its member schools are known for both their athletic and academic excellence, and the conference has a major influence on college sports, especially football and basketball.
