Job Summary
Transporting students, faculty and staff to athletic competitions, academic events and other college-related activities. This position requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnight travel.
Job Duties
  • Operates, cleans, maintains, fuels and inspects buses.
  • Ensures safe operation of the bus.
  • Ensures the safety of all passengers.
  • Maintains current status of all qualifications of commercial driving according to institutional, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork promptly and accurately according to institution, state and federal agencies.
  • Completes all training and testing required by the institution, state and federal agencies.
  • Maintains accurate records of hours of service and miles driven.
  • Performs simple repairs to keep the buses safe and operable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience driving a commercial or passenger vehicle.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement and clean driving record.
Big Bus-Class B CDL with P endorsement.
Possess a current federal Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card.
Must be at least 25 years of age.
Have no DWI or DUI convictions.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience transporting college athletic teams or groups.
Familiarity with regionals and out-of-state travel logistics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of bus operations, including engine, transmission, cooling systems, safety features, basic electrical and vehicle HVAC.
Ability to operate a bus safely.
Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
Extensive knowledge vehicle maintenance and the ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and adhere to schedules.
Ability to adapt to stressful situations.
Ability to work weekdays and weekends.
Ability to travel overnight.
Ability to work with faculty, staff and student populations.
Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs multiple times per day and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
