Big 4 Consulting Entry Level information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Big 4 Consulting Entry Level professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Big 4 Consulting Entry Level professional, you typically need a strong academic background (often in business, finance, or STEM), analytical skills, and proficiency in problem-solving. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, data analytics tools, and sometimes relevant certifications like CPA or CFA are commonly valued. Strong communication, teamwork, adaptability, and time management are essential soft skills that help you excel in client-facing and collaborative environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering high-quality solutions to clients, managing multiple projects, and succeeding in the demanding and dynamic consulting industry.

What are some common challenges new hires face in entry-level roles at Big 4 consulting firms, and how can they overcome them?

Entry-level consultants at Big 4 firms often encounter fast-paced environments, steep learning curves, and the need to quickly adapt to diverse projects and clients. Balancing multiple assignments and managing time effectively can be challenging, especially during peak periods. To overcome these challenges, new hires should proactively seek feedback, communicate openly with their team, and take advantage of training resources and mentorship programs offered by the firm. Building strong relationships with colleagues and engaging in continuous learning also helps ease the transition and fosters professional growth.

What are Big 4 Consulting entry-level positions?

Big 4 Consulting entry-level positions are roles offered by the four largest professional services firms—Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG—to recent graduates or individuals with minimal professional experience. These roles typically include job titles such as associate, analyst, or consultant, and involve working on client projects in areas like audit, tax, advisory, and technology consulting. Entry-level employees receive training, mentorship, and exposure to various industries, setting the foundation for a career in consulting. The work can be fast-paced and challenging but offers strong opportunities for growth and advancement.

Job description

Finance Associate Opportunity At Antler

Antler backs the world's most ambitious founders from the very start. Founded on the belief that innovation is the key to building a better future, we partner with people across six continents to launch and scale high-potential start-ups that address meaningful opportunities and challenges. Knowing that exceptional founders can come from anywhere with any background, we have offices in 30 cities, including New York, London, Berlin, Stockholm, Bangalore, Singapore, Seoul, and Sydney. Our global community supports founders on deep business model validation, initial capital, expansion support, and follow-on funding. Fuelled by a personal passion that goes beyond traditional investing, we have helped create and invested in more than 1,500 start-ups across a wide range of industries and technologies. A better future won't happen automatically—the world needs talented, determined, and resilient people to build it. Antler team members are part of an ambitious global community dedicated to helping the most driven founders move the world forward.

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented Finance Associate to join our global finance team. This role sits at the core of our finance operations, with a focus on bookkeeping and supporting month-end processes across a multi-entity, multi-currency, and multi-geography environment. You will gain hands-on experience - supporting operations that span funds, management companies, and startup ecosystems worldwide. The breadth of exposure in this role is uniquely difficult to find in traditional corporate or Big 4 environments. While grounded in fundamental finance responsibilities, the role offers broader visibility than a typical entry-level position, with the opportunity to contribute to processes that support teams across multiple regions. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information, helping to keep our global operations running smoothly as Antler continues to grow. This role has flexibility for remote working, however, you must be based in Cyprus.

Responsibilities

You will thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and support core finance operations, including:

  • Managing day-to-day financial transactions across multiple entities and currencies
  • Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management processes
  • Preparing and posting journal entries with a strong understanding of underlying business activity
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations across entities and regions
  • Supporting month-end close processes and improving timelines and accuracy
  • Maintaining organized and audit-ready financial documentation
  • Reviewing and validating financial data to ensure completeness and accuracy

What We're Looking For

  • 1–2 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or operations role within a corporate or fast-paced environment
  • Experience working across multi-entity, multi-cost centre, and/or multi-currency structures
  • Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage; NetSuite is a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive and problem-solving mindset
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • A collaborative, energetic approach and willingness to learn in a global team

Why Join Antler

  • Global exposure from day one – Work across international entities, currencies, and markets
  • Unique VC finance experience – Gain insight into venture capital operations and startup ecosystems
  • Accelerated learning – Collaborate with experienced leaders from top consulting firms, financial institutions, and the global tech community
  • Ownership & impact – Play a meaningful role in supporting the growth of a leading global VC platform
  • Flexible working – Remote-friendly role (Cyprus-based)
  • A truly global team – Join a diverse, ambitious, and mission-driven organization
