Founded in 2007, JL Construction Corp is a heavy civil excavation contracting firm located in Springfield, MA that specializes in excavation, infrastructure, streetscape, site and park development utilizing state-of-the-art technology and equipment. We are an established, growing contractor with a substantial fleet of trucks and equipment and multiple active projects throughout the region. Full-service commercial snow removal is also provided during the winter months. As a local contractor, we offer personal attention to customers while maintaining the resources, equipment, and capabilities to manage a diverse range of projects throughout the region. JL Construction Corp of Springfield, MA, is looking to hire a full-time Project Manager.
The Project Manager position earns a competitive salary based on experience. We offer generous benefits, including medical and a 401(k) plan.
THE PROJECT MANAGER ROLE
As a project manager, you play an essential role assisting the senior project manager with all phases of the bidding process beginning with searching for bidding opportunities all the way through construction and project closeout. You enjoy the variety inherent in your job and receive satisfaction from winning bids, completing projects efficiently and within budget, all while helping JL Construction Corp to continue to build on its reputation in the field for quality work.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PROJECT MANAGER ROLE
  • Candidates with a degree in construction engineering management, civil engineering, or a related engineering field will be given strong consideration; however, individuals with solid hands-on construction experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in the field of excavation/horizontal construction
  • Ability to interpret bid documents, plans and all other related project/construction documents
  • Experience with performing takeoffs and ability to calculate, analyze and adjust estimates
  • Current OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification and a valid driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of state bidding practices (MA/CT)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn industry-specific software programs quickly
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel locally to various job sites/meetings

WORK SCHEDULE
This full-time, exempt, salaried position typically works Monday through Friday.
