Job description

Nidy Sports Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our growing sports construction company. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in sitework and heavy civil estimating who thrives in a fast-paced environment managing a high volume of smaller projects. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, and supporting operations from preconstruction through project handoff.

Our company performs a significant amount of self-performed work, so experience estimating labor, equipment, production rates, and field operations is critical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for sports construction and site development projects.

  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, paving, concrete, fencing, athletic surfacing, and related sitework.

  • Utilize HeavyBid software for estimating and bid management.

  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.

  • Coordinate with sales professionals, project managers, and operations teams during estimating and project turnover.

  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously in a high-volume environment.

  • Analyze labor, equipment, and production costs for self-performed scopes of work.

  • Assist with budgeting, value engineering, and project planning efforts.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in sitework, heavy civil, sports construction, or related construction fields

  • Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid software

  • Experience working for a sitework or heavy civil contractor

  • Strong understanding of self-performed construction operations

  • Ability to manage a large volume of bids and smaller scope projects simultaneously

  • Knowledge of grading, utilities, drainage, paving, and concrete construction methods

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience estimating athletic field construction projects

  • Familiarity with performing own quantity takeoffs.

  • Understanding of municipal and commercial bid processes

  • Field experience in construction operations
