Job description

Anvil Fence Company — Garden City, ID

For 65 years, Anvil Fence has been the Treasure Valley's most trusted name in fencing. We're looking for an experienced Estimator to grow with us — someone who can walk a backyard with a homeowner and bid a school district project with equal confidence.

You'll work warm leads we generate. You'll also earn additional commission on the business you bring in yourself.

What You'll Get

  • $56,000–$72,000 base salary depending on experience, plus commission on closed jobs
  • Additional commission on self-generated business
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance (structured based on experience and preference)
  • Year-round work with a 65-year-old, financially stable company that doesn't slow down for winter
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match + profit sharing
  • Paid time off
  • Modern tools: we run ArcSite for on-site measuring and JobNimbus for CRM

What You'll Do

  • Meet with homeowners on-site to assess their fencing needs, measure properties, and recommend solutions
  • Estimate residential projects across wood, vinyl, chain link, ornamental iron, and automated gates
  • Quote light commercial projects including HOA, multifamily, and small commercial sites
  • Prepare bids for school district and public projects — reading plans and specs, submitting on time, and following public bidding procedures
  • Build accurate material, labor, and timeline estimates using ArcSite and JobNimbus
  • Present clear, professional proposals that homeowners and facilities directors can actually understand
  • Follow up on leads consistently and hit close-rate targets
  • Coordinate with production crews and the yard so what you sold matches what gets built
  • Handle change orders and customer questions through project completion
  • Build long-term relationships with repeat customers, general contractors, school district staff, and referral sources

What We're Looking For

  • Estimating experience — fence preferred; experience in decks, landscape, siding, roofing, or other residential trades considered for the right candidate
  • Plan-reading ability for commercial and school district projects
  • Comfort with technology — iPad-based measuring software (ArcSite), CRM platforms (JobNimbus), email, and basic spreadsheets
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when meeting customers in their homes, at commercial bid meetings, and on school district sites
  • Excellent communication — you can walk a homeowner through a $35,000 vinyl quote and brief a school facilities director on a 1,200-foot chain link spec with equal clarity
  • Self-motivated and organized — estimators manage dozens of active leads at any given time
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable working outdoors while measuring sites in any season

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Idaho residential pool code and barrier requirements
  • Experience with school security fencing and ADA gate compliance
  • Existing relationships with Treasure Valley GCs, builders, or school facilities staff
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Schedule & Location

  • Full-time based out of our Garden City, ID yard (83714)
  • Primarily Monday–Friday, with the infrequent possibility of evening or Saturday appointments to meet homeowner schedules

Before You Apply

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
