What is a Bible Project?

A Bible Project job typically refers to a role within The Bible Project, a nonprofit organization that creates animated videos, podcasts, and other resources to help people understand the Bible. These jobs can range from content creation and theological research to design, marketing, and administrative roles. Employees work collaboratively to produce educational materials that are accessible and engaging. The organization values creativity, biblical literacy, and a passion for helping others explore the Bible’s themes.

What does a typical week look like for someone working on a Bible Project team?

In a typical week, Bible Project team members might collaborate on developing scripts, conduct in-depth biblical research, contribute to storyboarding or content planning sessions, and review graphic or video assets for accuracy and quality. You’ll often work alongside writers, theologians, animators, and production specialists to bring educational resources to life. Regular meetings focus on aligning project timelines and creative vision to ensure consistent progress. While the pace can vary depending on project stages, teamwork, flexibility, and open communication are constants in this dynamic and impactful work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Bible Project position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Bible Project role, you should possess strong biblical literacy, research skills, project management experience, and often a degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field. Familiarity with digital content creation tools, collaborative platforms, and sometimes video editing or graphic design software is valuable. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication help team members craft engaging materials and coordinate efforts. These competencies ensure the integrity, clarity, and outreach effectiveness of Bible-related educational or media initiatives.

Job description

Human Resources Coordinator
Location: Portland, Oregon
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday
Term: August 31, 2026 - June 15, 2027 (ten-month term role)
Reporting to: Jillian Rachal, VP of HR
Eager to start a career in HR and excited about BibleProject's mission? This is a hands-on, ten-month opportunity to learn HR from the inside out, working alongside a team that will genuinely invest in you, on work that connects to a mission bigger than any one job. It's a short-term role, but it's a real entry point: meaningful work, real experience, and a season with our team you won't forget.
If you're a recent grad who's curious about how organizations actually work, how people get hired, supported, developed, and set up to do their best work, this opportunity may be right for you.
About This Role
As our HR Coordinator, you will support administrative work across the employee lifecycle, including HRIS systems, benefits and leave administration, support ticketing, and our Shared Interest Groups (SIGs). You will get to coordinate onboarding and offboarding, support job changes and performance review cycles, and partner with leaders to keep SIGs sustainable and effective. To be successful, you will need strong attention to detail, sound judgment with confidential information, and eagerness to learn HR systems and processes from the ground up.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to keep Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) sustainable, effective, and inclusive of remote staff.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for staff HR questions, providing clear and reliable guidance.
Responsibility
  • Administer HRIS, benefits platforms, and payroll tools, maintaining accurate and confidential staff records.
  • Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and performance review cycles across the employee lifecycle.
  • Manage support ticketing for HR-related requests.
  • Own planning, communication, and engagement tracking for Shared Interest Groups (SIGs).
Expertise
  • Support the VP of HR and Support Function Team with scheduling, internal communications, and HR events or trainings.
  • Document and improve internal HR processes as systems and workflows are learned.
What We Are Looking For
  • Recent graduate or early-career professional pursuing a career in Human Resources.
  • Coursework or experience related to HR, organizational behavior, business administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to learn and operate HRIS, benefits, or payroll platforms; no prior system experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
