Position Description
The Benefits & HR Compliance Coordinator administers employee benefits, leave programs, HR systems, compliance activities, and employee records. Working closely with the Human Resources Director, this role supports employees across multiple U.S. states and international locations and helps ensure HR processes are accurate, organized, and compliant in a growing global ministry.
Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions.
  • Administer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, HRA, COBRA, and other benefit programs.
  • Process benefit enrollment, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.
  • Maintain benefit records and documentation.
  • Partner with brokers and carriers to resolve benefit-related issues.
  • Assist with benefit invoice reconciliation and reporting.
  • Coordinate administration of the 403(b) retirement plan, including enrollments, changes, and employee communications.

Leave Administration
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee leave questions.
  • Administer and track employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, state family and medical leaves, and other protected leaves.
  • Coordinate Colorado FAMLI leave administration, including employee education, documentation tracking, and communication with employees and managers.
  • Assist with administration of leave programs across multiple states, ensuring required documentation and timelines are maintained.
  • Coordinate continuation of leave-related benefits and payroll changes.
  • Work with external leave administrators, payroll, and managers to support a smooth leave experience for employees.

Compliance Support
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Monitor and track compliance obligations across multiple U.S. states.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and required employment documentation.
  • Assist with annual filings, notices, and reporting requirements.
  • Support employee handbook updates and policy administration.
  • Assist with unemployment claims and audit preparation.

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Support
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and ensure completion of required documentation.
  • Conduct employment verifications and maintain employee records.
  • Process employee status changes, compensation updates, and other personnel actions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files.
  • Support employee communications and HR-related announcements.
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries and direct employees to appropriate resources.

HRIS Administration
  • Assist in the administration of BambooHR and related HR systems.
  • Maintain data accuracy and integrity within HR systems.
  • Generate reports and provide HR metrics as requested.
  • Support system updates, audits, and process improvements.
  • Assist employees and managers with HRIS-related questions and training.

Global HR & Payroll Coordination
  • Support HR administration for international employees through global employment providers.
  • Maintain international employee records and documentation.
  • Assist with global payroll administration and employee data updates.
  • Coordinate with external payroll and employment partners to ensure accurate employee information.

Recruitment Support
  • Provide administrative support during recruitment activities as needed.
  • Schedule interviews and assist with candidate communications.
  • Conduct reference checks and background checks as needed.

People & Culture
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and staff events.
  • Support employee training and development activities.
  • Assist with special projects and strategic HR initiatives.
  • Promote and model CBS's mission, values, core values, and postures in all interactions.

Qualifications

For this position, we are looking for someone with the following qualities, experience, and abilities:
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in human resources, employee benefits, payroll, administration, or a related field.
  • Experience maintaining confidential information with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy when working with confidential employee information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to learn and apply employment laws, HR policies, and compliance requirements across multiple states.
  • Ability to learn and administer employee benefit and leave programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, FMLA, and state leave programs.

Other:
  • This is a full-time position, reporting to the Human Resources Director
  • Work Location: Hybrid and CBS Ministry Service Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • Weekend or evening work will be required periodically based on workflow and deadlines.

Starting Salary Range
  • Salary range: 55,000 - $65,000
