Contract BI Developers are often responsible for optimizing data processes and ensuring data accuracy to support business decision-making.

What are some common challenges faced by BI Developers working on contract assignments?

As a BI Developer working on a contract basis, you may encounter challenges such as quickly acclimating to new data environments, understanding complex business requirements with limited onboarding, and managing changing priorities across multiple projects. Contract roles often require you to demonstrate immediate value and deliver results within tight timelines, which can demand adaptability and strong organizational skills. However, these positions allow you to gain diverse technical experience and expand your network within different industries. Collaborating proactively with stakeholders and maintaining open communication are key to overcoming these challenges and ensuring successful project outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Bi Developer Contract position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a BI Developer Contract, you need strong experience in data analysis, ETL processes, data modeling, and proficiency in SQL and BI tools, typically supported by a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Familiarity with platforms such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SSIS, and relevant certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) is often required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time management skills help contractors adapt quickly and work efficiently with cross-functional teams. These capabilities are essential to deliver accurate, actionable business insights within project deadlines and dynamic organizational environments.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and governance of the customer's SharePoint Online environment, including customer- and internal-facing sites, applications, and service request fulfillment. The SharePoint Administrator/Developer will work closely with the Project Manager, Power Platform developers, and customer stakeholders to ensure a secure, well-governed, and responsive SharePoint environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance of the customer's SharePoint Online environment, including customer- and internal-facing sites, site pages, document libraries, workflows, web parts, and forms.
  • Maintain a current catalog of sites, including ownership, purpose, size, and usage, and track all site requests and document libraries using knowledge management platforms.
  • Monitor and manage intake of SharePoint service requests through the customer's service request system, providing an initial response within one business day and resolving requests within two business days unless designated as an extended task or project.
  • Enforce SharePoint security policy and governance in accordance with customer policy guidance, and maintain data integrity consistent with applicable regulatory compliance standards.

  • Support additional M365 application needs that intersect with SharePoint (e.g., Power Platform integrations, Teams, OneDrive) as required.
  • Employ strong customer service and communication skills when engaging end users via email and verbal contact regarding service requests and support needs.
  • Coordinate with the Power Apps Developer, Power BI Developer, and Data Warehouse SME to support integrated Power Platform and reporting solutions built on SharePoint Online.
  • Support testing and documentation of development deliverables, and coordinate with IT for deployment of updates into production.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on SharePoint Online administration and/or development experience.

  • Familiarity with service request/ticketing processes and the ability to meet defined response and resolution service levels.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of data governance, records retention, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling in a SharePoint environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible for a federal background investigation, and able to maintain required suitability determinations for the life of the contract.
