I have a HOT requirement for a VERY sr. Cognos developer for Carfax in Centreville, VA! 

The candidate MUST interview in person on in Centerville, so LOCAL candidates preferred! This candidate needs to have experience developing COMPLEX reports, CUBES and dashboards.

Description 

CARFAX is looking for a Sr. Contract BI Developer / Business Intelligence Sage to support projects within CARFAX's Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will help provide trusted reporting, data, and analytics so that CARFAX can:

Demonstrate the value we provide to dealers, partners, shops, and consumers

Assess product performance and influence future direction

Support internal business operations

We are turning BI on its head to meet Carfax's rapidly changing business needs. Traditional BI/DW approaches cannot keep up, so we do things differently than most companies. Enjoy Routine-you prefer building traditional BI solutions using BI tools and technologies that you already know. Learning new technologies stresses you out.

Prefer a Slow, Steady Pace-you are comfortable working on long projects that deliver traditional BI solutions. You believe 3-6 months is a reasonable timeframe to deliver a typical project. Working at a rapid pace stresses you out.

Are a Tool Jockey-you know your tool, but you cannot explain the business problem you are trying to solve. Someone gives you a report spec and you know the right buttons to press in the tool to create the report or dashboard.

Are an Individual Contributor-you may work on a team, but you prefer to solve problems by yourself. Brainstorming and debating ideas with a group of developers drains your energy. You prefer to implement your own solution rather than solutions that were designed by the group and may include ideas that are not your own.

Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to thrive in our environment (see above)

Significant experience designing, developing, testing, and optimizing BI solutions. Experience with Cognos required.

Strong, demonstrated understanding of data warehousing concepts

Excellent problem solving skills and strong attention to detail

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with business and technical communities
