Job description

Position Overview
The Data Engineer - Business Intelligence Architect is a hands-on technical leader responsible for end-to-end ownership of the enterprise data pipeline and analytics layer. This includes ingesting and transforming raw data, and designing, building, and optimizing enterprise analytics solutions. This role combines deep technical execution with architectural ownership, modern data modeling, and advanced analytics.
The role bridges data engineering and business intelligence architecture, ensuring that data is not only available and reliable, but also well-modeled, governed and consumable for decision making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end BI and analytics solutions, data engineering pipelines, semantic models, and BI tools.
  • Provide hands-on support for the existing analytics environment (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI) while planning and executing phased migrations to new platform.
  • Balance run-the-business BI support with platform modernization initiatives.
  • Identify, prioritize, and refactor legacy BI assets for migration or coexistence with new platform solutions.
  • Serve as a technical lead, actively contributing code while collaborating on architectural direction and best practices.
  • Architect and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines.
  • Build and maintain enterprise semantic layers and dimensional models.
  • Mentor BI developers through hands-on guidance, code reviews, and technical coaching.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance, reliability, and data quality issues across legacy and Fabric platforms.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and systems thinking mindset
  • Ability to translate business questions into scalable data and BI solutions
  • Expert-level experience designing and building enterprise BI solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or Databricks and hybrid BI architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and Power BI.
  • Advanced SQL development and performance tuning skills.
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing, lakehouse architecture, and dimensional modeling.
  • Exposure to ERP systems and complex enterprise data environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business stakeholders.

Preferred / Plus Qualifications
  • Python skills for analytics, automation, and data processing.
  • Experience with machine learning or predictive analytics in a BI context.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Familiarity with modern ML frameworks and model integration.
  • Experience with Azure-based analytics services and enterprise data integration.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or data platform development.
  • 3+ years in a senior, lead, or architect-level role with significant hands-on responsibilities.
