Job description

Mechanical & Structural Engineering Managers (K Level)
Company:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking passionate, engaged, and qualified Mechanical & Structural Engineering Managers (K Level) to lead a high-performing Interiors team providing a variety of technical solutions and complex project oversight in support of existing and future commercial airplane products in North Charleston, South Carolina.
The successful candidate will have strong engineering expertise, ability to guide multi-faceted projects to completion, possess outstanding communication skills, and demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
Assignment of final responsibility could be in any one of the following Interiors teams listed below. Final determination will be based on best fit and alignment of experience.

  • Certification Engineering
  • Certification Strategy/RIO/ACE Management
  • Process/Tools/Feature Development
  • Configuration

Position Responsibilities:
  • Keep safety and quality at the forefront of all activities.
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
  • Leads development of engineering solutions for the Payloads Engineering function in support of current and future commercial airplane products.
  • Provides oversight to complex projects; integrating multiple considerations including: suppliers, interfacing engineering teams, production system needs, regulations, and airline requirements.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports across Global Boeing team
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership."
  • 5+ years of experience in Aerospace Industry
  • Experience with project management methodologies
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects from conception to completion

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience leading aerospace design engineering teams and integrating within a global supply base and product value streams
  • 3+ years of experience within Boeing Commercial Airplanes
  • Knowledge of Boeing products and processes
  • Knowledge of aircraft Cabin and Cargo products
  • Experience with commercial aircraft certification processes and regulations
  • Proven ability to lead with the Boeing Values
  • Demonstrated ability in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagement
  • Solid technical background with the ability to guide and mentor the team
