Job description

Swanel is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Service Technician to inspect,

maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform minor installations of beverage dispensing

equipment for restaurants, bars, convenience stores, stadiums, and other commercial

customers throughout the Chicagoland area.

Our technicians play a critical role in keeping customers operational by servicing fountain

beverage systems, CO2 systems, ice machines, nitrogen generators, and related beverage

equipment. While service and repair are the primary responsibilities, technicians may

occasionally perform product deliveries, replenish customer bulk CO2 tanks, complete

minor equipment installations, and remove equipment from customer locations as business

needs require.

This position combines mechanical aptitude, customer service, independent problem-

solving, and professionalism while representing a family-owned company with more than

80 years of industry experience.

Essential Duties Responsibilities

 Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fountain beverage dispensing equipment.

 Service and repair commercial ice machines.

 Install, troubleshoot, and maintain bulk CO2 systems.

 Install, troubleshoot, and maintain nitrogen generators and beverage gas equipment.

 Diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and beverage dispensing system issues.

 Perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment.

 Complete minor equipment installations and equipment replacements.

 Remove beverage equipment from customer locations when required.

 Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in a timely and professional manner.

 Test equipment after repairs to verify proper operation.

 Maintain accurate service records using company software or mobile devices.

 Operate a company service vehicle safely while following all traffic laws and company

safety policies.

 Utilize the bulk CO2 tank installed on the service vehicle to replenish customer bulk CO2

tanks when assigned.


 Occasionally deliver products or equipment to customer locations as business needs

require.

 Maintain appropriate truck inventory, service parts, tools, and vehicle organization.

 Communicate equipment issues, recommended repairs, customer concerns, and

completed work with management.

 Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT and hazardous material

regulations.

 Build positive customer relationships through courteous communication and quality

workmanship.

 Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

 Represent Swanel professionally at all customer locations.

Qualifications

 High school diploma or equivalent.

 Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

 Previous mechanical, electrical, plumbing, food equipment, beverage equipment, or

related field service experience preferred.

 Ability to read and understand technical manuals and service documentation.

 Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.

 Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

 Excellent communication and customer service skills.

 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

 Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

 Occasionally move equipment exceeding 100 pounds using appropriate lifting

equipment.

 Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

 Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

 Safely use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

 Frequently drive throughout the Chicagoland area.

Preferred Experience

 Beverage dispensing equipment.

 Commercial ice machine repair.

 Bulk CO2 systems.

 Nitrogen generators.

 Commercial foodservice equipment.

 Plumbing.

 Basic electrical troubleshooting.

 EPA Section 608 Certification (preferred but not required).

 DOT/HazMat familiarity.
