Job FocusPreparing metal edges by beveling for weldingAssembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems

What are Bevelers?

Bevelers are skilled workers who specialize in shaping and finishing the edges of materials such as metal, glass, wood, or stone. Their main task is to create a beveled edge—a sloped surface at the edge of a material—for both functional and decorative purposes. Beveling helps to remove sharp edges, prepare materials for welding or assembly, and enhance the appearance of finished products. Bevelers use hand tools, machines, or specialized equipment to achieve precise angles and smooth finishes. This job requires attention to detail, steady hands, and a good understanding of material properties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Beveler, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Beveler, you need strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience with metalworking or glass fabrication, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training. Familiarity with beveling machines, hand tools, and safety protocols is essential, and some employers may require certification in machinery operation or workplace safety (such as OSHA). Precision, reliability, and effective communication are important soft skills that help ensure quality and teamwork. These skills and qualities are critical for producing accurate, high-quality bevels while maintaining safety and efficiency in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
