Each sale generates funds for literacy and education initiatives in the UK, U.S., and around the world. Since its launch in 2003, Better World Books has raised over $35 million for libraries and literacy, has sold over 100 million books, has donated over 38 million books, and has reused or recycled more than 475 million books.


Human Resources Generalistโ€”Recruiter

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalistโ€”Recruiter is responsible for effectively finding qualified candidates to fill open positions. The Recruiter will take part in employee relations activities that impact employee engagement and retention. Report, track, and maintain unemployment and workers compensation.


Essential Functions:

  • Fill open positions through creative recruiting processes.
  • Source qualified candidates to interview for open positions.
  • Recommend recruiting strategy.
  • Stay current with recruiting and external market trends.
  • Following the SOP, establish collaborative relationships with hiring managers.
  • Be an ambassador for Better World Books in the community, at job fairs, and recruiting events.
  • Report, track, and maintain unemployment cases and sttend hearings as needed.
  • Report, track, and maintain workersโ€™ compensation cases.
  • Advocate for employees.
  • Seek opportunities to represent Better World Books.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
  • Business acumen to align recruiting strategy with business goals.
  • Innovative problem solver.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with payroll systems, e.g., ADP, Paycom.
  • Experience with benefits administration.


Qualifications, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred; high school diploma required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of recruiting experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate interview schedules, recruiting events, including nights and weekends.
  • Professional Certification preferred, e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and G Suite products.
