We are currently looking for a Welding Coordinator for our Owensboro, KY office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provide welding procedures and nondestructive testing procedures to Construction Managers required for projects; Provide training to Construction Technicians on monitoring of in-service welding and other welding and NDT issues; Support the Welding Engineer in managing the welder qualification program and welder data base, and updates to Welding Manual and Welding Specifications and in related O&M and construction documents; Audit of welding documentation of projects and support with State and DOT PHMSA audits. Onboarding of welding inspectors.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Working knowledge of construction practices, materials, manufacturing / fabrication methods, and energy industry standards that are applicable to the equipment and systems used in the transportation of natural gas pipelines.
  • Able to read construction drawings, alignment sheets and valve maps
  • Must be willing and able to travel (50% of time) and work in a variety of environments, including pipeline right-of-ways and manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong commitment to personal and team safety

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years Natural Gas Industry experience
  • Detailed working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards such as API 5L, ASME B31.4/31.8, API 1104, 49CFR Parts 192 & 195, FERC, and OSHA regulations

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Technology from an accredited university required, or;
  • 7+ years of experience with practical in-depth technical knowledge from a pipeline operating company and possess an AWS CWI Certification.
