Job description

Bering-Alaka'ina Holdings, LLC has an opening for a Software Engineer (SWE) to provide support for the life cycle sustainment of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) Battle Stations 21 (BST-21) program out of Orlando, Florida.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer with experience in C# development across desktop, web, and mobile platforms to join our team in the simulation and training industry. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems used for simulation, training, and education purposes. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in object-oriented programming, a passion for innovation, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for desktop, web, and mobile platforms using C# and related technologies.
  • Develop and integrate user interfaces (UIs) that are intuitive and align with user requirements.
  • Test, debug, and optimize code to ensure application performance, scalability, and stability.
  • Support and develop test plans and test cases.
  • Ensure software quality, including writing and maintaining unit tests.
  • Achieve organizational goals while adhering to standards and best practice.
  • Maintain and update existing software applications to meet new business needs or technological advancements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for enhancing the software development process.
  • Document software designs, processes, and systems for future reference and compliance.
  • Ensuringย CDRLs and documents are developed in accordance with program specifications.
  • Collecting and accumulatingย appropriate technical information and data through researching and analyzing technical data and publications, engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications/documentation, software description documents, engineering documents, and logistics documents.
  • Working in a team environment, takingย direction with minimal follow-up to complete a task/project.
  • Ability to lift 35lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Travel may be required up to 25%.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Ten (10) years of direct experience may substitute in lieu of a degree.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated experience in Software Analysis, Development, Test, Integrate, and Documentation (examples of documentation include but are not limited to: Test Procedures, Test Inspection Results, and/or SOPs).
  • Experience with frameworks like WPF or WinForms, ASP.NET or .NET Core.
  • Experience in developing mobile applications (Xamarin, MAUI, or related frameworks).
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Entity Framework).
  • Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git, TFS).
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly; to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document and develop technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with DoD training system is preferred.ย 
  • Experience working with CDRL's (Contract Data Requirements List)

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
