Overview

In this position, the Plant Quality Lead performs quality related testing of all production batches, conducts batch related quality activities including pre- and post-manufacturing review of production orders, advises on batch adjustments, and manages quality records and retains. In addition, the Quality Lead provides training on the activities of the plant quality control laboratory to ensure that lab testing provides valid and timely test results while ensuring compliance with corporate quality standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

Conducts Production order reviews (pre and post batch)

Performs testing for release of batches

Makes batch adjustments to improve Right the First-Time batching performance

Demonstrates conformance to Quality Standards

Ensure batches conform to specification upon release

Inspects or oversees specified incoming raw materials for QC testing parameters

Trains on QC test methods

Performs oversight of production of new formulations on production floor when needed

Provides operational support for quality-related functions

Performs batch checks for customer complaints

Participates in root cause investigations of non-conforming batches

Participates in site Calibration and Verification program for lab related equipment

Manages stock of lab standards required for testing

Qualifications

Laboratory Skills:

Capable of using laboratory equipment including weighing balances, viscometers, pH meters, gloss/sheen meters and spectrophotometers

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

Other Key Skills:

Must be results driven and have strong attention to detail and be highly organized

Must exhibit good verbal and written communication skills

Must be able to train and evaluate lab technicians and operators performing quality functions

Minimum 2 years of experience required in a quality lab or manufacturing environment

High School Diploma - (2-year higher education certificate in scientific area is a plus)

5 years of experience required in a quality lab or manufacturing environment
