About the Role
This six-month contract role will lead the implementation of Paylocity's Benefits Administration module while managing the organization's transition to a new benefits broker and multiple benefits vendors. This individual will serve as the primary implementation lead, owning the project from planning through post-go-live stabilization. The ideal candidate has successfully completed Paylocity Benefits Administration implementations, understands benefits carrier integrations and EDI processes, and thrives in a highly hands-on environment with minimal oversight.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of the Paylocity Benefits Administration module from project kickoff through post-go-live support.
- Develop and manage project plans, implementation timelines, milestones, deliverables, and overall project execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Paylocity implementation consultants, benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party vendors.
- Configure and validate benefit plans, eligibility rules, enrollment workflows, life event processing, and carrier connections within Paylocity.
- Coordinate the transition from the current benefits broker to a new broker while ensuring minimal disruption to employees.
- Manage implementation activities for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA, HSA, 401(k), and other employee benefit programs.
- Lead carrier integrations, EDI implementation, file mapping, testing, validation, and ongoing file management activities.
- Coordinate system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), issue resolution, and production readiness activities.
- Audit employee eligibility, dependent information, enrollment data, and carrier files to ensure data integrity throughout implementation.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies, system issues, and implementation risks before go-live.
- Create process maps, workflows, implementation documentation, standard operating procedures, and administration guides.
- Document system configurations, implementation decisions, business requirements, and future-state processes.
- Coordinate implementation activities supporting open enrollment, including timelines, communications, testing, and employee experience validation.
- Partner with vendors and consultants to ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and applicable benefits regulations.
- Provide regular project status updates, risk assessments, and implementation progress reports to HR leadership.
- Develop knowledge transfer documentation and train internal HR stakeholders on future administration processes.
- Support post-go-live stabilization, issue resolution, and project closeout activities to ensure a successful implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PMP certification required.
- 5+ years of experience leading benefits administration, HRIS, or benefits implementation projects.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing the Paylocity Benefits Administration module, including system configuration, testing, carrier connectivity, and go-live support.
- Experience serving as the primary implementation lead responsible for executing—not simply overseeing—a benefits administration implementation.
- Experience managing benefits broker transitions and coordinating multiple vendor implementations.
- Strong experience with carrier integrations, EDI implementation, file mapping, testing, validation, and file management.
- Experience supporting open enrollment implementations and benefits system deployments.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits administration, eligibility rules, enrollment processes, and carrier connections.
- Knowledge of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and employee benefits compliance requirements.
- Experience creating process documentation, SOPs, workflows, and implementation guides.
- Strong project management, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, or similar project management software.
- Ability to independently manage complex implementation projects from planning through successful completion with minimal supervision.
