Outstanding negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills set successful managers apart in this role. These competencies ensure effective placement of bench candidates, maximize revenue opportunities, and foster long-term client and consultant relationships.

What is a bench sales manager?

Bench Sales Managers are professionals in the staffing and IT consulting industry responsible for marketing and placing consultants who are currently 'on the bench,' meaning they are not assigned to any client project. Their primary duties include identifying job opportunities, submitting resumes to potential clients or vendors, and negotiating rates for their consultants. They also maintain relationships with both consultants and clients to ensure successful placements and ongoing business. Effective Bench Sales Managers possess strong networking, communication, and negotiation skills, and they play a crucial role in maximizing resource utilization within consulting firms.
