The BHU Nursing Unit Manager demonstrates the skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning care and maintaining a level excellent customer service experience for all patients admitted to the BHU at College Medical center Long Beach Main Campus. The Manager will supervise assigned Behavioral Health staff, and directs clinical and medical flow of all patient care. The Manager is involved in the selection of personnel, their education, discipline and level of expertise. Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health Services,

QUALIFICATIONS

Current licensure as an RN

  • 5 years, experience or greater patient care, mental health BHU experience

  • 3 year of supervisory experience in a clinical setting required.

  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

  • Assist with staff development, scheduling, updating policies and procedures and performance improvement efforts.

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership and supervision to nursing staff to include: RN's, LVN's, Behavioral Health Workers, and CNAs

  • Develop educational programs designed to promote professional development of staff, students and colleagues in an environment of mutual respect and understanding; promote research and integrate evidence based knowledge as well as best practice in the delivery of quality patient care.

  • Will appraise performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for College Medical Center, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that College Medical Center in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
