Job description

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) acts as a representative of treatment staff and observes all patient activity, maintains a visible presence on the clients at the treatment center, community housing, and at outside activities. The BHT will also circulate throughout the treatment center and community housing facility, and alert to fire and safety hazards. The BHT is responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time each day for scheduled activities.

Southeast Detox and NRG Mgmt is looking for motivated individuals who have a passion for helping others and are looking to grow within the agency.

Experience is the substance abuse treatment field is preferred.

Specific Areas of Responsibility/Duties:

  • Developing and following a daily structure for clients.
  • Transporting clients to and from appointments and meetings, when necessary.
  • Utilizing the company van for transportation of clients.
  • Instructing and confirming the company's rules and regulations to new admissions.
  • Performing new admission intake paperwork.
  • Orientating new clients to the facility and the residential facility.
  • Evaluating quality of program on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitating communication with ancillary services.
  • Attending clinical and administrative meetings to integrate inter-departmental sharing of information.
  • Building positive relationships with staff, physicians and clients.
  • Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
  • Following Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
  • Completing and forwarding copy of Incident Reports and any other safety/risk issues immediately to the Supervisor
  • Providing a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients.
  • Observing self-administration medication to clients.
  • Conducting random urine drug screens
  • Providing a daily report on the hourly rounds made that shift, to the supervisor.
  • Facilitating client's rules and responsibilities and reporting noncompliance to supervisor.
  • Assisting in other daily duties requested by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION:

Some college preferred or meets experience requirements.

2. EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 1 year experience in treatment industry preferred.

3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Maintains state Driver's License and has a good driving record verifiable through Department of Motor Vehicle, preferred.

Current CPR certification and First Aid and or trained on within 90 days of hire.

4. KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING

REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:

Knowledge of 12-Step Programs (addiction and recovery) preferred and/ or trained at hire on substance abuse treatment methods.

Knowledge of twelve step program.
