Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Department: Behavioral Medicine Center

Location: 3340 Hospital Road, Saginaw, MI 48603

At HealthSource Saginaw, we are seeking compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Technicians to join our Behavioral Medicine Center team. Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, Mental Health Technicians play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their treatment and recovery journey.

In this role, you will provide one-on-one patient support, observe and monitor behaviors, assist with activities of daily living, and perform basic nursing care tasks. You will help create a safe, therapeutic environment while building meaningful connections with patients and encouraging their progress toward recovery. What You'll Do:

The Mental Health Technician will perform the full range of assignments for patients including but not limited to:

  • Guide and assist patients in maintaining rules and regulations of the Behavioral Medicine Center department.
  • Makes rounds to observe, assess and monitor patient's behaviors.
  • Report unusual behavior/physical symptoms to the appropriate nurse.
  • Utilize empathy and communication skills to establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, bathing, toileting, grooming, bed making etc.) as needed.
  • Intervene in disruptive/destructive patient situations through utilization of appropriate management techniques.
  • Perform basic nursing tasks (e.g. vital signs, collection of specimens).
  • Assist in organizing therapeutic and recreational activities for assigned patients.
  • Promote and encourage patient attendance at all groups and program activities.
  • Interact with patients on a 1:1 basis, working toward outcomes identified on the treatment plan.
