Job description

Job Summary:MaineGeneral is looking for a compassionate and motivated Behavioral Health Unit Assistant/CNA to join our dedicated Behavioral Health team at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. In this role, you will support individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing patient-centered care under the supervision of an RN. Your work will help patients stabilize, develop coping skills, and improve their overall quality of life in alignment with our mission and values.Job Description:

Position: Behavioral Health Unit Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Location: Alfond Center for Health, Augusta
Schedule: 36 hours/week

Shift: Days (7a-7p)

What You'll Do:

  • Assists in ensuring patient safety while helping to meet their emotional, physical, recreational, and mental health needs.

  • Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, orderly, and appropriately stocked therapeutic environment.

  • Communicates therapeutically, uses de-escalation techniques, and reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

  • Performs basic patient care activities, as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

Your Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course within one year of hire is required. Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) is required within 18 months of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) are required within 6 months of hire.

  • A minimum of one year of directly related work experience is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications is desired.

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Compensation Information:$19.65 - $34.39

The hourly pay range shown represents the base pay range for this position. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
