This position is based on years of experience.
This position is a 20 hour a week position.
Job Title: Behavior Coach Exemption Status/Test: Nonexempt
Reports to: Principal
Dept./School: Assigned Campus
Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, promote attitudes of positive student expectations, responsibility and assist in the development of at-risk youth in an alternative academic setting.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification (preferred)
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to clearly and accurately record information
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Experience:
Certification and experienced preferred, but not required
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Know and communicate the campus mission statement.
  2. Strive to help the campus/district to achieve its annual goals.
  3. Maintain Professionalism
    1. Punctuality and attendance: Be on time, be present, be last to leave.
    2. Maintain clear lines of communication and work to communicate appropriately to all individuals at the appropriate level.
    3. Create clearly defined relationships with students, parents, staff, etc
  4. Be visible, present, supportive and nurturing for all parties: students, parents, community members and staff.
  5. Participate/lead on assigned and/or designated committees.
  6. Assist with the development, monitoring and update Campus Improvement Plan specific to the discipline programs as needed.
  7. Collaborate with Program Coordinator on scheduling needs, teacher concerns, program needs, etc
  8. Seek professional growth through opportunities related to all facets of the role of the position.
    1. Attend and participate in all campus and district level meetings as required

Discipline Alternative Education Placement Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as the Behavior Coach of the assigned DAEP/PRIDE program daily from 7:45am to 3:45pm.
  2. Communicate the DAEP program effectiveness to the Program Coordinator
  3. Collaborate with Program Coordinator regarding program concerns and possible adjustments needed for DAEP program implementation.
  4. Provide constant positive support and feedback to students regarding progress
  5. Maintain daily student attendance and point's spreadsheet.
  6. Make guardian contact each day a student is absent.
  7. Provide weekly feedback to home campus administration regarding student points and possible release dates
  8. Make regularly scheduled campus site visits.
  9. Provide documentation of regularly scheduled campus site visits to Program Coordinator and Campus Administration
  10. Maintain accurate documentation concerning student behavior and violations of campus expectations
  11. Maintain consistency in following through the assigned steps of the student Expectations Contract.
  12. Serve as a liaison with state officers and probation officers with applicable students.
  13. Assist in monitoring and maintaining supplies and equipment for all discipline programs.

PRIDE Program Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as a Behavior Coach of the PRIDE program Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:45pm to 5:30pm. (days and hours may vary)
  2. Attend each assigned session of PRIDE or make arrangements to have another Behavior Coach cover the duty
  3. Check roll for daily attendance and communicate absences and tardiness to the Program Coordinator
  4. Collaborate with Program Coordinator regarding PRIDE program concerns and possible adjustments needed for PRIDE program implementation.
  5. Place PRIDE sign out upon arrival and place back in closet at the conclusion of the PRIDE session.
  6. Communicate to parents possible concerns or praises at the conclusion of the daily PRIDE session.
  7. Assist in monitoring and maintaining supplies and equipment for all discipline programs.

Enrollment Responsibilities:
  1. Network with assigned school principals regarding program guidelines, requirements, and student information
  2. Maintain procedures for enrollment of newly placed students for enrollment into the DAEP program based on the established district and campus guidelines.
  3. Conduct enrollment (INTAKE) conferences with incoming students and parents.
    1. Maintain consistency and follow the script for student enrollment procedures.
  4. Review for understanding the points system with students and parents.
  5. Complete forms placing students into the appropriate program and scheduling students into additional programs modeling campus discipline expectations.

Academic Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain a points plan for each student reflecting current status, courses completed, course plan, and STAAR/EOC status. Update as part of the checks and balances system established with the principal, and secretary.
  2. Assist with (be present and available) the delivery of social skill instruction.
  3. Monitor student daily participation and completion of social skills assignments
  4. Provide academic counseling/encouragement, consistent with the campus advisory expectations, reinforcing students short and long term goals.
  5. Provide academic encouragement for students and individualize tutoring/assistance when possible.
  6. Maintain weekly progress check of student academic progress
  7. Assist in monitoring Computer Based Instruction (APEX) utilizing Senso software
  8. Assist and support teachers in monitoring students' academic progress.

Discipline Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as the Behavior Coach for discipline in the assigned program.
  2. Organize, communicate, monitor, and enforce all procedures for student behavior in DAEP to the appropriate personnel.
  3. Maintain consistency in dealing with students, discipline situations, punishments, and communication with the individual campuses.
  4. Thoroughly investigate and document possible student situations preventing and/or seeking appropriate solutions thus eliminating future concerns.
  5. Maintain support for the teacher and the program expectations with the students and make adjustments when needed
  6. Review discipline placement orders, investigate as needed, and consistently administer appropriate consequences as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct, the District Discipline Procedures guide, and the Expectations Contract for violations.
  7. Contact and communicate with parents each incident regarding student behavior resulting in a log as well as consequences for behavior.
  8. Notify teachers of student completion of program and extensions.
  9. Accumulate all exit grades from teachers and complete the Placement Completion documentation.
  10. Document, Document, Document
    1. Input and maintain accurate discipline information
    2. Complete the Discipline Forms in Eduphoria
  11. Notify Program Coordinator of serious and/or persistent misbehavior.

Special Circumstances:
  1. Attend campus ARD/504 meetings (as needed) on students and provide required feedback during the ARD meeting.
  2. Attend off-campus ARD meetings (as needed) for students being referred to DAEP programs.
