Job Title: Behavior Assistant
Location: In-Home, Various Locations
Schedule: After-School Hours, Monday-Friday (flexible hours)
Age Range: 3-21 Years Old
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Assistant to join our team in providing direct behavioral support to children and young adults aged 3-21. The Behavior Assistant will work one-on-one with clients in their homes, implementing evidence-based behavior interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed clinician. This role focuses on improving behavior and supporting clients in meeting their individualized treatment goals as outlined in their clinicians treatment plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and strategies as designed by the supervising clinician.
- Provide direct support to clients in a home setting, ensuring a safe, structured, and positive environment.
- Use reinforcement techniques, behavior modification strategies, and teaching methods to encourage skill development and behavior improvement.
- Track and document client progress according to treatment plan objectives, recording data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with the clinician to discuss progress, challenges, and any changes in behavior or treatment needs.
- Model and teach clients coping strategies, social skills, and appropriate behaviors.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living and foster independence where appropriate.
- Build rapport and establish a trusting, supportive relationship with clients and their families.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure client safety during sessions.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other professionals as needed to enhance client progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in psychology, special education, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with children or individuals with behavioral challenges (previous experience as a behavior technician or in a similar role is a plus).
- Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, compassion, and a commitment to working with children and young adults in a positive and supportive manner.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and manage challenging behaviors professionally.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Must be reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Background check and clearances as required by law.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training in ABA or other behavioral interventions.
- Experience working with children or adults with autism, developmental disabilities, or other behavioral conditions.
