General Summary: The Folder/Stitcher Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining folder and stitcher machines used in finishing printed materials. This role involves ensuring that all folding and stitching operations are carried out efficiently and accurately to produce high-quality finished products.
Essential Functions:
Machine Operation:
  • Operate and monitor folder and stitcher machines to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.
  • Set up machines by adjusting settings and configurations based on job specifications.
  • Load and feed materials into the machines, ensuring proper alignment and handling.

Quality Control:
  • Inspect folded materials for accuracy, including checking for proper folding, alignment, and overall quality.
  • Make necessary adjustments to the machine to correct any defects or issues during production to ensure adherence to all quality and client requirements.
  • Ensure all folded and stitched products meet company and industry quality standards.

Setup and Preparation:
  • Prepare machines for each job by configuring settings, selecting appropriate folding plates, stitcher pockets, and ensuring proper paper feed.
  • Conduct test runs to verify settings and ensure that the machine is set up correctly before starting full production.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform routine maintenance on folding and stitching machines to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues and paper jams during operation.
  • May use solvents when cleaning; oils during lubrication; and alcohol or alcohol replacement during upkeep and operation of unit.
  • Report major equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel and follow up on repairs.

Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols while operating machinery and handling materials.
  • Follow company policies and industry regulations related to machine operation and material safety.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of production runs, including machine settings, material usage, and any issues encountered.
  • Report production metrics and quality control results to supervisors.

Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with other production team members, including print operators and quality inspectors, to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new technologies and best practices related to folder/stitching operations.

Work Environment: Work is performed in the warehouse, where temperatures can fluctuate with extreme weather. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
