Job Description
We are currently hiring a FT Procurement Business Partner Lead - Raw Materials and Ingredients hybrid in Breinigsville, PA.
The Procurement Strategic Sourcing & Business Partner Lead, Raw Materials and Ingredients is responsible for developing and implementation of category management and strategic sourcing strategies designed to enable commercial growth and profitability for the Boston Beer Company. This individual will be fully responsible for the day-to-day execution of operational procurement activities by managing the suppliers' operational relationships, partner with procurement coworkers, and internal stakeholders to implement innovation projects, drive efficiencies, deliver supplier quality improvements, and reduce risks for raw materials and ingredients procurement categories.
*A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams' weekly schedule.
What You'll Brew:
Business Partner Operational Procurement
  • Communicates and ensures compliance of BBC's Sourcing Governance (e.g. procurement policy, supplier code of conduct, P2P processes
  • Facilitates implementation of procurement change initiatives to improve business performance effectively communicating timelines
  • Supports process, system, and policy improvements representing procurement to cross-functional colleagues communicating change initiatives and associated benefits
  • Actively participates in recurring business stakeholder meetings providing updates on service and supply Service Level Agreement (SLA) attainment, cost savings, and upcoming business needs
  • Develops and documents procurement processes creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Creates and manages Purchase Orders to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisitions
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to identify and support supply interruptions requirements, identify cost savings pipeline opportunities, track and monitor projects

Category Management
  • Analyzes industry trends in the market, economy, changing business models, environment and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect the continuity of supply and leverage strategic opportunities
  • Responsible for building and maintaining the Boston Beer 9-steps of category strategy based on comprehensive market research and clear definition of company requirements
  • Develops and maintain expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors, and product innovations
  • Establishes metrics, processes, and procedures to ensure service, performance, and pricing are optimized by our suppliers
  • Actively participates in recurring business stakeholder meetings providing updates on service and supply SLA attainment
  • Reviews and reports cost savings opportunities and attainment
  • Oversees, plans, manages and assumes complete responsibility for all activities and processes associated with the categories assigned

Strategic Sourcing
  • Develops and executes sourcing strategies applying market analysis, supplier diversity best practices, benchmarking, and negotiations balance of power assessments to maximize competition
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to draft Statements of Work (SOWs) and apply competitive bid processes executing sourcing events (RFI RFQ, RFP)
  • Collects, manages and analyzes historical spend data to create a company aggregated view when designing and implementing optimal RFx's events utilizing eSourcing tools
  • Negotiates commercial terms and collaborates with stakeholders and legal department on overall negotiations to ensure a single point of contact with suppliers and optimal results
  • Reviews and reports cost savings opportunities and attainment

Supplier Relationship Management
  • Acts as the primary contact for supplier issues, addressing corrective action requests and resolving supplier disputes to ensure the highest level of service delivery
  • Proactively drives and manages strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Conducts supplier business reviews partnering with internal stakeholders to define and track KPIs and SLAs to drive continuous improvement
  • Tracks and reports supplier service delivery through Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Contract Management
  • Maintains contractual and business relationships with suppliers
  • Responsible for document archiving and active contract management coordinating with legal department to ensure supplier adherence to all commercial and legal terms
  • Manages all Master Service Agreements (MSAs) within assigned category as well as agreement amendments leveraging BBC's contract management tool

Other Responsibilities
  • Support after-hour activities required during a crisis or emergency situation

What Ingredients You'll Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier and category management, and risk management
  • Food & Beverage raw materials expertise, including sourcing flavors and ingredients
  • Strong digital and analytical capability, leveraging technology for collaboration, data analysis, visualization, and insight generation (e.g., spend analysis, market intelligence)
  • Negotiation and contract management expertise, including supplier performance monitoring, SLA compliance, and relationship management
  • Project and program management skills, with the ability to lead initiatives from initiation through completion while managing multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Business, financial, and legal acumen, applying sound judgment to deliver value and manage risk
  • Strategic and critical thinking, proactively identifying obstacles, solving problems independently, and challenging the status quo through continuous improvement
  • Risk management experience, from identification through monitoring and reporting
  • Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence, present, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Stakeholder and supplier relationship management, emphasizing trust, collaboration, and accountability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Tableau or Power BI
  • Value driven mindset, consistently meeting commitments, deadlines, and milestones
  • Design thinking orientation, applying lean, agile, and human centered approaches to develop practical, strategic solutions

Level: 6IC
At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $67,000 and $114,000, representing total earning potential. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
